Snoopy Day
Those that are familiar with OC know that this is the day the kids get to 'snoop' around and meet their new teacher. This cute boy is now in the 4 year olds class and is SO PROUD!! He'll tell anybody who will listen "I'm 4 and I'm in the 4 year olds class".
He was so excited to get back to school and see his friends. We have all missed this routine and the good feeling you get just being a part of this school. The women there are AWESOME!! They love God and love our children. I have been so impressed in Christian's development there and I know this year will be no different. 'Miss Pat' is the best director you can ever pray for and pours her heart into that school. She has had a hard couple years with the constant "we're moving. Oh, wait we're not moving" stuff going on, but she's a trooper. We love you 'Miss Pat'!! (Incidentally, the plan is once again to hopefully be moving the school sometime this year)
The kids worked on puzzles while waiting for everyone to arrive. Christian has Caitlyn, Anna Kate, Cole and Marshall in his class again. Four out of the five have been together all three years and Cole joined in last year. They all are so sweet and get along pretty well--they are 4 so there have to be some rough days or they wouldn't be normal. There is a total of 13 kids in the class--including a set of TWINS.
Anna Kate and Caitlyn were more than happy to give me a big smile
And this is the brave woman that will teach these crazy kids all year:) Mrs. Fisher has been teaching there for 20+ years and (from all I've heard) is a great teacher. They say she is especially good for boys s o we'll see what she can do for ours:)
As you can see from Christian's red face it is still SO HOT here. The kids played outside for about 30 min to give the parents and teachers a chance to meet and they all came back in looking like this. Miss Pat said this is the first year she can remember having to come up with an alternate plan b/c of heat. She said that they will try to work around it and let the kids play a little without getting too overheated. All playtime will have to be done by 11 to try and get through before it gets unbearable. We need some rain and some relief from this HEAT.

THAT MOM
You know the mom I'm talking about...the one that looks so frazzled she can't do one more thing...the one with two or more screaming kids that just look out of control...the one that looks like she can't wait to get out of wherever she is...the mom you look at on your good days and say "Boy, I'm glad that's not me!"
On my past two big trips to the grocery store I have been that mom (Tara even witnessed yesterday's fiasco). I'm learning that the cute carts with the car just don't work for us...the kids are too close and get in each other's way. They fight over anything they can think of and yesterday Baylor bit a chunk out of Christian's shoulder!!! You may be thinking "he probably provoked her" and most times I would agree with you, but I think this time she was just plain ol' mad and took it out on her brother. There is a red mark with slightly broken skin on his upper back/shoulder area. I was so flustered at the checkout that I forgot to use the coupons that I had just spent an hour looking around the store with. (You know those ones that were about to expire and you use them on stuff you know you'll need soon, but not necessarily right now.) The checkout people mean well, but make you feel worse with their "Oh, someones having a bad day" and "those kids just aren't getting along are they?" I've had the same teenage bagger each time and I know we are swearing her off kids...she has to think "I don't want ones like that!"
It is very frustrating to try and do things with the both of them...lately. It didn't used to be bad, but now the whole sibling fighting just because we are siblings has started. Too much togetherness!! We are so ready for school to start...but wait I have to keep one because she's not big enough for school yet!! I get a break from them fighting with each other only to have to listen to the whining of one who will feel all alone. It is such a love/ hate time around our house...Mommy included:)
I forgot to add that while Christian was still crying over his bite he broke into the most pitiful version of "Twinkle, Twinkle" that I have ever heard. I asked him if he was trying to find his happy place, but he didn't respond.

This week in the world of Mack's
Baylor loves her 'Puppee'
In all this heat the kids decided not to even wait to get swimsuits on to take a little dip in the pool! Baylor's diaper got so big it was hanging down to her ankles...so than we decided to do the European thing and just go naked:) If you remember the "Baby's got back" picture you can tell she has slimmed up some in the past few months.

This week was...
HORRIBLE!!! For me anyway. To say I have been very sick hardly even gives you a glimpse. Starting last Saturday night I fell into my deathbed (so it felt) and started to make a climb out on Wednesday. Now I've got my legs back under me even if they are a little wobbly:) It was just the most ugly viral thing out there--so the doctor tells me. I had a fever for 3-4 days, body aches/pains, chills and sweats at the same time (if that's possible) and couldn't keep anything down for the first two days--too nauseous to move. My kids were shipped off to my parents house (THANK YOU KAYKAY, TEX & MIM) and my poor husband worked half days and tried to take care of all of us. Sherisse and Lila were even brought up in the line-up to help. Yesterday was the first day I ate "real food" in a week. I really don't remember being that sick ever and don't want to ever feel that way again!!!
One positive spin is my kids can't get enough of me now (I'm trying to tell myself that is positive:)) and my husband says I should ask my boss for a raise:):)
You're week had to have been better than that...
