Christian tested for his Orange Belt last Saturday morning. We missed the official testing day last time so this was a first for us. All students who are ready test (at various levels) show up to test together. Master Beck lined them up by color and did all the pre stretching they normally do--the whole group went through some basics together and then he started testing each group together. Yellow belts were the second group to go and Christian looked so small compared to the grown man beside him...you can start at any age so that means Christian can be younger or older than people at his skill level. They went through their counting, blocks and kicks together-than Master Beck tested them individually. Christian did well and will receive his Orange belt in another week or so.

No testing would be complete without a board breaking
He broke it with the side of his fist this time and after a couple attempts he snapped right through it!!

We were able to watch this blacksmith at work...Nana made the mistake of telling Christian that he made horseshoes. She got an earful about that and learned everything you never wanted to know about blacksmiths and farriers (the ones who actually make horseshoes)
there were some fun wooden toys to play with
Baylor getting all the attention from two of the men in her life
It may be hard to tell from this picture, but this grill looks like a helicopter. It was pretty neat

Father's Day
We celebrated with my dad a week early b/c he was going to be on his way back to town on Father's Day. Kim and I love our daddy and love spending time with him. He has always been tough, but nurturing. He expected us to always do our best, but he was there to help pick us up when we made a mistake or had trouble. He is an amazing father and I'm so proud to call him mine:)
We took Jeff's Dad to the Sam Davis home in Smyrna (look for more pics in another post)and then to Cracker Barrel for his Father's Day. A little birdie told us he would like a new bible with his name imprinted on it so that's what he got:) Christian was so proud of the Star Wars card we bought Papa--it had music and everything
Jeff received several sweet cards, a CD and a coffee mug with him and the kids on it:)
Jeff is an amazing father to our children. He doesn't always get to spend as much time with them as he would like but those kids are on his heart ALL the time. They know he loves them and Baylor is always ready to run into his arms when he comes home at the end of the day:)
To all the fathers I know: Happy belated Father's Day. You all influence my children, Jeff and I and I'm grateful to have you in our lives!

Christian also got to pick wherever he wanted to got to Lunch that day and we all met Daddy at the Chick-fil-a in Cool Springs. Afterwards we went back to Tex and KayKay's to put together something very special...we all had a little hand in it, but MIM did most all the work and had the blisters to prove it
Baylor got a big girl bed to have at KayKay's!!! It is a pretty princess one with a canopy on it. As you can see in the pics she wasn't all that thrilled with it at first, but now she loves it. She runs in there every time we go over just to make sure it's still there:)
And these two lovebirds often get overlooked since their Anniversary is the same day as their Grandson's Birthday. They went out on a date that evening to the Wild Horse Saloon downtown. Not really sure why but Mom loves going there so off they went. They have been married 35 years and although I know it hasn't always been easy they sure make it look that way:) They are both good models for Jeff, me, Travis and Kim...we all want to have the communication and understanding they seem to have with each other.

The morning of his actual birthday Christian got his present from us. A HUGE Darth Vader Transformer that becomes the Death Star. (If you are not into Star Wars you have no idea what this is) He has wanted it since January and we made him work for it somewhat...He had to work on his 'homework' (workbooks e bought him) so many times a week. It was a long road but he made it and was so happy when he opened up his present!!
Above as Darth Vader and below as Death Star...It will probably never be a complete circle ever again b/c that this is HARD to do!!
And what visit from Mim would be complete with out a pedicure? Baylor always stays so still for Mim:)
And they both love to play airplane w/ her too

Christian's Buzz Lightyear Party
Christian loves all things space so it wasn't much of a stretch to have a Buzz Lightyear/space party. We decorated KayKay and Tex's basement with an inflatable solar system and a star backdrop. He was so excited and couldn't wait for all his friends to be there. Family was apart of the affair too so below is our group shot minus Uncle Travis--we missed you:(
Baylor has been attached to Mim since she got here...she chooses her over me which is saying a lot since she normally wants Mommy for everything
Here's the birthday boy waiting on his party to start...Nana ordered the cool banner and KayKay/Tex provided the wonderful spot. You all helped me so much and I can't thank you enough
Tara, Grant and Andrea (You can see some of our decorations in the background)
Do you see the fun rug on the floor? KayKay bought that for Christian's room at her house...we loved it KayKay, Thank you!!
