Mommy, Where's God?

On the way home from dinner last night Christian pondered where is God. This is a hard concept for many adults so I wasn't sure where to begin. I answered "in heaven" which of course lead to "where's heaven, mommy?". Going with what I learned as a child I told him it was in the sky. He looked out his window and said "I can't see it mommy--I can't see Jesus. Than we told him "Jesus lives in your heart too." "My heart? I don't feel him mommy" I told him everytime he's scared and then feels better God is there--everytime he feels safe and happy God is there. Everytime he is sad he can feel Jesus in his heart and the hurt can be made better. Christian seemed to understand that better and proceeded to list off everyone he could think of and ask if Jesus was in their heart. For example: "Jesus in your heart Mommy?, Jesus in your heart Daddy"...

To be able to have the simple faith of a child again would be amazing. To just know God was there to make things better--as adults we know that, but it can be the hardest thing to remember. I have personally been reminded of his awesome power and love lately...I hope you can take a minute to rejoice and praise God for the little blessings in your life. It's amazing what a three year old can teach you sometimes!

Baylor Sits Up

Baylor has started sitting up all by herself, which at 6 months is a full 2 months before her brother. So, we think she is very advanced, but I guess all girls are, right? It started in her bathtub, as you can see below. (This is also a good opportunity to check out the baby rolls she has going on.) We're looking forward to when she can take baths with her brother and cut down the bath time, or at least the number of bathtubs we have going at once.

She is definitely a grabber, and likes to grab toys, cameras, hair, food, Tigger, etc. The hair is also FINALLY starting to come in. Her Eddie Munster hairdo is finally going away with a little longer bangs.

Mommy continues to work on giving her baby food, although Baylor thinks it is a game as she usually tries to spit it out at her.

Baylor is 6 months old

I really can't believe my baby girl is already so big. These are just a few of the shots we got...I put the crying one in there just so everyone would know she's not always happy. You can also see that her feet are now one of her favorite toys. It is so cute to watch especially b/c Christian never did it--it is something all her. She rolls over so fast now. We can't keep her on her back to sleep anymore. Christian is dying for her to be able to sit up and do something with him (What he doesn't realize is that means soon she'll be getting into all his stuff). And she drools like there's no tomorrow, but Dr. Merri says no teeth yet. We weighed in at a whopping 18lbs 10 oz and we are 26 in long. She grew almost 2 full inches in two months. We only need to try green beans and we will have tried all our veggies...then we get to the yummy fruits. She is not a fan of plain cereal so we're hoping she'll eat it with the fruits. She can laugh really big (mainly for big brother and daddy) and makes all sorts of noises. No "Dada" yet, but Jeff is hopeful. I have to say I'm glad the first 6 months are behind us--the first 3 were not that easy at all and we keep getting better:) I look forward to her personality beginning to shine in the next 6. Who knows what she'll be like. I thank God everyday for her and her sweet brother.

I'm very behind in posting this...The weekend of Father's Day we met Jeff's family at a park in Smyrna. We grilled out and played on the playground...it was lots of fun. Christian especially had fun w/ Uncle Jeremy who went down the slides and pushed Christian forever on the swings.


I'm very thankful for all the father's in my life. Mine is the best dad ever and I'm still realizing all the good things he did for me as I grew up. I can't wait for him and my mom to be here so we can spend even more time together. My husband is great to our kids--He's so hands on and helps me out so much. I probably don't tell him that enough so: "Honey, thanks for all you do--I appreciate it". He learned to be a good father from his dad and I admire Papa for all his hard work. Christian loves spending time with both his grandfathers and I look forward to seeing those relationships bloom.

A week at KayKay and Tex's house

We spent the entire week up in Louisville and had a blast. Mim took us for rides on the Gator, we hung out in the pool and KayKay introduced us to Peter Pan. Tex got to babysit twice while we did wedding stuff--everyone survived:) Poor Tex worked all night and only had a few hours sleep, but was a trooper and even changed a big blow-out while on a conference call--Can we say super grandpa? Mim, KayKay, Gladys(Travis' mom) and I had fun shopping for wedding/bridesmaids dresses. We found both of them that day and have already bought the wedding dress of Mim's dreams. (at the same place I bought mine) She'll definitely look like a princess that day:) Saturday we had an engagement tea for Mim. She invited several women that have influenced her life and the coolest part was listening to those women talk about the impact her sweet heart and smile has had on them over the years. I was so glad I was able to be there.

Poor Baylor had a hard time keeping up with us. She just fell asleep in KayKay's arms one evening. Not that KayKay minded one bit...she loved having her grandkids around, but I think we wore her out too. By the time the week was over we were all ready for our old routines.

Christian got to feed the horses several times. Tex even took him to see the race horses work out. I don't know how impressed Christain was, but hopefully it will be a memory some day.

Everyone brought us home on Sunday, the 9th and we were so happy to see Daddy. He had to come home and work the last half of the week. He got several nights of uniterupted sleep, but realized this house is pretty lonely with out his little kiddos. We are trying to settle back in and get back to our crazy hectic thing we call life.

Happy 4th of July

Here are our little patriots at my parents BIG party. Last count there were 128 people from my parents church at the house. They throw the party every year and it has gotten bigger and bigger. We went to help celebrate the last one and had FUN. My kids always have plenty of patriotic attire b/c we (especially my parents) are very into our red, white and blue. If you look close, you'll see Baylor even has a pair of American flag sneakers.

The party ends with a big fireworks display set to music(someone else at church is in charge of that). Christian stayed in his KayKay's lap the entire show and covered his ears b/c it was so loud-but he liked it. It does not get really dark up in Louisville until @9:45 so Baylor and Christian were up REALLY late. If it had been New Years Christian would have almost rang in the new one...I couldn't believe he stayed up the whole time. All in all it was a fun party and we were wiped the next day.
