Time with Nana and Papa

We ended the weekend with some time with Nana, Papa and Uncle Jeremy. We drove from KY to meet them at Cock of the Walk ( a great catfish place in the Opryland area) to celebrate Thanksgiving/Uncle Jeremy's birthday. Christian and Baylor had fun in the BIG rocking chair.

I had to go answer the phone and this is what Christian added to this entry. As I was saying, after dinner we went to Opryland Hotel to look at all the lights. Christian was amazed and Baylor looked in wonder at it all. Posted by Picasa

Thanksgiving 2006

Two of my sweetest blessings

I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a great time with my mom's family and even managed a whole group picture (what did people do before timers?)...complete with Travis:) Seated in the middle are Mam-ma and Pap-pa, my Mom and Uncle Willie are on either side. Around my uncle are his wife Judy and kids Ryan and Mandy. My family is around my Mom and Kim and Travis are the two cuties in the middle.
Kim, Mom and I hit the stores on Friday...not for anything specific, just because that's what we do. The kids and Dads spent the day at home and then a rare treat....Kim and I had a double date with our boys:) All in all it was a great long weekend. Posted by Picasa

SWEET HUSBAND

My sweet, loving and very good looking husband took me on a surprise trip for our anniversary. I had no idea where I was going until we were in line at the airport and he handed me tickets to CHICAGO. We had so much fun and tried to stay as warm as possible. We stayed at THE WESTIN on Michigan Ave. We shopped, walked, ate and just enjoyed being together. A special treat for me (cause I'm still such a kid) was the fact that Mickey Mouse was there to do a parade and "Light the Mile"...he lite the lights as he went down the mile and we had a great spot to watch. Lots of things "just worked out" like that all weekend. I know it is because God knew we needed a great little get away to remember what all this love thing is about: the two of us. We love our children and wouldn't trade them for the world, but they tend to take over and make you forget what life was like before they came along. Seven years ago we started this journey and I'm proud to say we are doing great. I pray the next seven (and more) are just as good or better. Thank you hubby for planning a secret getaway--can't wait to do it again!

A BIG THANK YOU to my parents and Mim for taking such good care of the kids while we were gone. Mim is like a third parent anyway and really knows her stuff...You're the best sis, I love you.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving...may you all be with the ones you love.

Our cute kids

We just had to share the cutest picture of our two beautiful kids. It's not often you get a picture to turn out this good with them both smiling.

still sick

Christian is still sick and now I think Baylor is starting. Her nose is running like a faucet and she is starting to sound hoarse. Dr. Merri ran all sorts of test to rull out different things on Christian today. She gave him the children's version of a Z pack to hopefully wipe out whatever it is. Posted by Picasa

There just aren't words...

Ok, I know there are probably all kinds of wrong about posting pictures of your kids in this state, but this was just too good not to share. The only thing you can say is "Baby got back."

Our poor little Baylor. We can only hope this is something she grows out of, but we know it will be something she'll laugh at someday (we hope). Now we know why she's been able to sit up for so long...she has such a good base. Posted by Picasa

No Strep

The longer test came back negative, but I still have a very sick little boy. His fever spiked to 103.8* today and still acts miserable. We are alternating Tylenol/Motrin and have instructions to come see the Dr. in the morning IF he hasn't improved. I can almost guarantee we will be there bright and early to try and beat all the other sick people. I'll update later with the results.

There are good things...

There are good things to being sick. Christian got a smoothie from Sonic (from sweet Mim) and the CARS movie from Mommy and Daddy. He is still pitiful with a fever and now a cough to go along with the sore throat, but this special treat helps out a little:)

"My mouth hurts mommy"

That was the first words uttered by my sweet little boy this morning. I asked if it was his throat (and pointed) and he said yes. Trusty Dr. Dad whipped out the flashlight and confirmed that his throat was red/swollen. He felt a little warm so I called the doctor just to see what I should watch for. They said strep is going around so it was a trip to Dr. Merri for us this morning. The quick test came back negative, but they'll send it off to a lab for further analysis. Tylenol/Motrin is all they could suggest with plenty of fluids and rest. Mim came home with plenty of popsicles for her fav boy.

He is just so gosh darn pitiful! He won't talk above a whisper and try as I might I could not get him to eat lunch. No lip about a nap either--just a "okay, mommy" (in his little whisper voice). One book and he was out. A typical nap time is full of "I don't want to sleep" and "one more book", but today he just went to sleep and has been there for the past 3 1/2 hours. I guess I'll wake him up eventually.

WHY?

Why do people have to be so hateful? Our good friend (and worship minister) got a very hateful letter from someone who wouldn't even sign their name. I just don't understand why people do some of the things we do. I try to not make snap judgements or talk about people behind their backs. I'm a pretty upfront person and will let you know what I think. I try to be understanding of those that aren't BUT If you are reading this and are the person who wrote that letter: Please take a moment to realize that you don't know EVERYTHING that goes on behind the scenes of the 'show' and think about how much the Thomas family sacrafices for our church family. You may not see it that way, but I (and they) do. You try getting three kids up and ready while your husband is getting ready for 'the show' at church. Or how about the inner city families they have helped with or the countless people ZOE has touched/brought to Christ. I could keep going---I love this person because God has commanded it, but I feel sorry for them because they had a moment of hatefullness they felt compelled to share--even wihout their name.

TEETH!!!!

We finally have teeth!! Jeff was swinging our little ladybug upside down on Halloween night when he saw them--2 little teeth on the bottom. We were so excited b/c we were beginning to wonder if they were ever going to come. Christian was excited as the rest of us (he has said her teeth were coming in the mail for awhile) and put his little fingers in her mouth to feel--he laughed b/c they felt funny.

We have also started to wave and (I think) saying "bye"--she is delayed in the waving sometimes, so don't expect her to do it on cue. The other day my sister and I were watching Oprah in bed. Baylor had just woken up from her nap and was playing with us. Cute Nate, Oprah's interior designer was on, and Baylor must have thought he was cute because she waved at him three times. She would not wave at either of us, but she waved to Nate. She is only 10 months old and she knows a cute guy when she sees one! :)
