Goodbye Friends

Some of our friends are moving away this weekend. Zane and Jodi have been in our life group in the past and just are just fun people to be around. After almost 10 years in Nashville they are moving back home to Texas. He is a very talented singer/songwriter and played a farewell to Nashville show last night. Jeff was in class so he couldn't go:( The kids and I, along with several other friends, rocked out and had a great time. The show was downtown at a bar and grille. My friend Tressa drove down with us and as we were getting out of the car I told her I was having flashbacks to the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" when Reece Witherspoon's character meets an old high school friend and she says 'You have a baby...in a bar!' The kids did have fun and weren't the only children there:) Baylor spent most of the time bopping up and down to the beat and made several people smile. When we were leaving she turned to me and said 'That was fun, Mom' (sounded so BIG)

Let's Go Titans

Christian and Baylor's school had everyone dress in their Titans gear for the big game on Monday night. The kids all had fun screaming 'Let's Go Titans' all the way to school

This is Baylor's class...Mrs. Julie is so good about taking pictures. Baylor of course is looking anywhere, but at the camera!

We watched the game with Kikki, Kevin and Gracie(still cooking in Mommy's tummy). It's always more fun to watch that kinda thing with other people. We were worried for a little while, but the Titans pulled out rather well. We all have dreams of another Super Bowl swimming in our heads:)

Trunk-R-Treat 2008

As per tradition, Otter Creek had their Trunk-R-Treat on Sunday night. It's fun getting to see all your church friends in their costumes. People decorate their cars and just have fun with it. We came home with tons of candy and some tired kids...that is after the sugar high wore off:)

Fall Fun

The kids worked on their pumpkins Saturday afternoon with Daddy. I found these Mr. Potato Head pieces at Target (that store has everything). The kids enjoyed making their Princess and Pirate. We did all this before deciding to take Baylor to the ER (fun, I know). We discovered bleeding in her ear and talked to several people before deciding to have it looked at. Long story short...her sinus infection probably forced her tube out with all the pressure in her sinus area. 2 doctors and 2 nurses looked at it b/c (of course) we were an oddity. This doesn't normally happen when a tube comes out. She was already on an antibiotic so we'll finish that and then it will be a wait and see game. If she begins having ear infections again we'll have to replace the tube...if not we do nothing.

We picked out our pumpkins last week at a little farm across the street from some of our friends. Baylor's class doesn't do field trips and I wanted her to experience a little fall fun. She enjoyed seeing all the little pumpkins

Field Trip to Walden Farm

Christian's class had a great day to pick out their pumpkins, take a hayride and learn about some animals. Here he is picking out his perfect pumpkin. They learned these are called pie pumpkins b/c they are the perfect size to get enough pumpkin to make one pie. Showing Mrs. Melissa he found an open one...you could see all the seeds and the insides of the pumpkin

The whole class listening to a story about pumpkins and how they grow. They had talked a little about this the day before so they were eager to show off their knowledge. We were all so impressed by how quite and respectful they were. Mrs. Melissa says they love to learn and make her job easy:)

As you can see, Christian already thinks he's a little too cool to snuggle up to Mom in front of his friends. I could be sad or look at it as the ways things are supposed to be. The funny story from the day illustrates he still needs me even if he doesn't think so: The class was beginning to go through a corn maze and he turns to me and says: "I don't need you help Mommy...I'll make it myself" It was a very windy day and the wind made that corn sound a little spooky. After a few seconds of that he shouted back "Maybe I do need you Mommy"...It's nice to be needed

Missing Mim

Mim was here a couple weeks ago and we miss her sooooooo much. Baylor really attached herself to Mim this trip...that's good and bad. Good that she can reconnect with her so quickly even though we don't see her often, Bad in the respect that EVERY TIME we weren't with Mim that week Baylor was asking about her--I mean as soon as we got in the car!!! It got to be a little annoying for me to constantly answer "Where Mim? Can I see Mim? Mommy I want my Mim!!"
Like I said: so happy she loves her, but could we calm the ?'s a little please:)


One evening we hung outside at Mom and Dad's making Smores YUM YUM--even though (big surprise) Baylor only wanted the chocolate portion

Christian loves his Mim too!! They have a special bond b/c she has lived with us on two separate occasions in his short life. They bonded early on and I think they will always have a special relationship. One sad development over the week is he started calling her Aunt Kim instead of Mim. We tried to correct that b/c we love hearing the Mim...Aunt Kim sounds so formal. I think he's showing us in different ways he's growing up, but he's the one who started the whole Mim thing in the first place:)

We also went to California Pizza Kitchen to celebrate her birthday a little early...we love us some CPK. Christian enjoyed helping her finish off her birthday sundae

This is from earlier in the school year and Baylor's teacher just emailed it to me...is this not one of the sweetest moments?!?! Baylor wasn't ready to wake up from her nap so she just layed down in brother's lap. I love how he is patting her back and looking down at her. They really do love each other and this is one of those times it shows:)

Parents Night 2008

Last night we went to school so the kids could show off their classrooms and what they have been doing so far. I wondered how Baylor would be with all those extra people around, but she played and had a good time. They have these wooden flowers that you "plant" in the bucket and then "water" to help them grow...she really seemed to like these b/c she kept doing it over and over
Mrs. Wuulie (Julie) has been a family favorite for awhile. She was the aide in Christian's class when he was two and is now a head teacher for Baylor. Baylor refused to look at the camera...oh well. She loves Mrs. Jackie too who is her aide...I thought I had her in a pic, but I didn't:(

The kids had made "Punkins" and you can see that Baylor's is one of three sad ones. She was either in a bad mood that day or is thinking outside the box and didn't want hers to look like everybody elses:)
Every morning the kids put a fish in the bowl as a sort of attendance...if any fishes are left in the water they try to think of which friends are missing

Then it was onto Christian's class. He is really enjoying Kindergarten and we couldn't be more pleased with his progress. He is beginning to read and spell anything he can get his hands on. Below he is showing Jeff his "All about Me" book that they have been working on. It included: height, weight, address, phone #, a picture he drew of our family and a picture Mrs. Melissa took of him on the cover.
