Favorite Fridays

Todays topic: your favorite thing about being a mommy...that's a tough one b/c there are LOTS of good things about being a mommy. Since I have two kids I have one favorite thing with each of them. My favorite thing to do with Christian is snuggle. I've posted before about our long time history with snuggling and there is just nothing better--except when he looks at you dead in the eye and says "I love you, Mommy"--melts your heart:) My favorite thing with Baylor is feeling those pudgy little arms wrapped around me in a hug--this is a new thing with her and I love it--she'll lean in for a kiss too which is fun.

I love hearing Christian talk about what he learned at church and school. Hearing little ones talk about God is so AWESOME. I love the little shy smile Baylor does when she is playing shy. Like my friend Sarah (the one who got me started with this favorite friday thing) said, I love that I'm the only mommy these kids have--sometimes there is no one else that will do but me and that fills my heart with joy. It gets a little crazy when BOTH decide I'm the only one who can help at the moment, but even in the frustration I wouldn't trade being "Mommy" for anything. These kids have taught me so much about love and I hope I can do the same for them over the years.

We got a surprise...

yesterday in the mail!! Nana sent us Peter Pan on DVD. Mommy had a very LOOONG afternoon with the kids so I'm not sure who was more excited. Baylor watched a little bit, but soon found other things to do--Christian was glued the entire time. Mommy got a little bit of time to herself which was nice.

Baylor is still pretty fussy today--ears, I guess. She slept about 45 minutes and woke up (almost to the minute of me shutting the door on brother, so I wasn't too thrilled). She cried for 10minutes, calmed down to play and drink a little milk. I put her back in bed about 10 minutes ago and she just quite crying!! Hopefully she'll stay down for a while.

Can this really continue?

We were at Brentwood Children's Clinic AGAIN this morning. I'll give you one guess why...Baylor still has double ear infections!!! She just can't shake them and it is driving us crazy b/c when she wakes up in the middle of the night it doesn't really matter if we ignore her or we rush in to hold her...she just cries and cries!! Hopefully this round of antibiotic will kill those infections--die infections, die!!! Sorry, I got a little carried away.

Anyway...in two weeks we have her 15 month check up and I'm almost positive we will be discussing the high possibility of tubes in the ears. I know there are worst things, but I don't like the thought of putting my little girl under--I don't like the thought of constant infections either, so I'll have to do what the docs say is best.

Totally different subject--My parents bought a playset for their backyard. It was suppossed to be a surprise, but I saw it marked on mom's calendar--it was still a surprise for the kids. We went over Saturday evening and told Christian that there was a surprise around the corner. He goes running and gets this BIG SMILE on his face. "A playground!! Mommy, Kay-Kay has a playground!!" He spent a long time on it Saturday and Sunday. Baylor loves to swing so she's had fun too. We took pics with my mom's camera so I don't have any yet. It is a really cool playset. It has a tunnel for them to climb through, swings, a bumpy slide and a little fort like house on top. If you have been to SAM'S CLUB lately it is from there--way fun and now Christian begs even more to go to his Kay-Kay's house!!

Back to school tomorrow and this mommy is ready...

Friday Favorites

An old college friend is starting this so I thought I'd join in...This Friday is favorite worship song(from the BOOK). Mine is 'Old Rugged Cross'. My grandmother has a song page mounted on a piece of wood in her house. I stood in front of it and read (and sometimes sang) the words all the time. It just has a connection with me and it is a nice reminder of growing up. There was an air vent right next to it that my family probably heard me through--maybe they got a laugh or two:)

What's your fav old time worship song?

Blogger didn't let me add the pics to the other post so here they are

We're going to the Zoo, We're going to play all day...

That is one of the songs we sing in our music class. You go through different animal sounds and such...it's fun. It is such a beautiful week in Nashville...very good for us Mommies that stay at home during Spring Break. I declared Wednesday a Zoo day. I invited several others, but no one could take me up on my offer. So Baylor, Christian and I headed out for our own day of fun. We stuck to the front part of the Zoo b/c I didn't feel like walking all over the place by myself, but we still had a blast!! The elephants and giraffes were out playing and having their breakfast. The monkeys were asleep when we first arrived, but came out in full force a little later. Timon and his other merecat brothers were scurring about in their little dirt yard. We played on the playground--let me rephrase that--Christian played on the playground and Baylor and I just followed him everywhere. Oh to be one of those mom's that just sit on the benches and let their kids have at it...one day (too soon) I'll be there too, but I do enjoy getting to be with them. The three of us even went down a two story, VERY DARK slide. Baylor wasn't to happy during, but was laughing by the time we saw sunlight at the end. While we visited the giraffes, Christian helped me pick out a stuffed one for Baylor. I had told him how I bought him his elephant (which is still on his bed every night) when he was Baylor's age and wanted to get her a giraffe. He picked the softest one there was and said "she'll like this one Mommy"--which she did of course. We had lunch, played some more and then went to KayKay's house for a little rest (I do mean little unfortunately). Enjoy our pics and the weather!!

Day 4

This is day 4 of Mr. Independent...I think we have started a beautiful trend:)
