It's Papa's birthday this week so we went to their house to celebrate on Saturday night. We cooked out hamburgers/hot dogs and had yummy cake:) We thought everything was going to be rained out, but the storm passed over with only a few sprinkles. After dinner it was actually cool enough to go outside.
Nana, Papa and the grand kids
"Here's your present Papa." You can see Baylor already trying to open it for him. His present was actually pretty cool. It was a record player that can attach to your computer. Than you can burn CD's from your old record collection. And he has a big one:)
We all played a little baseball game with Uncle Jeremy. Baylor giggled the whole time and Christian seemed to enjoy hitting. When we practiced throwing it to him he even caught it TWICE. He was oh so proud of himself. I think Jeff really enjoyed watching his kids run around the same yard he used to play in.
We took Christian's golf clubs along too. He still needs some practice and to learn that he needs to keep the clubs down. His sister almost got a club in the face right after this picture was taken. He just swings them around like nothing could be wrong with that. He's four what can you say?!?! Nana even got in on the action:)
Happy Birthday Papa!! We love you and are so glad to have you as a part of our family...you always make things fun.

A weekend of Family
My Aunt, Uncle, cousins and Mam-ma all came down for a quick 24 hr visit. Everyone but Mam-ma came for an anniversary party (that's why they aren't pictured--they were gone when I started taking pics) and she just came along for the ride:) It was nice just to hang around Mom and Dad's house with her. We haven't gotten to see much of each other lately and she REALLY wanted to see her great-grand kids. It was nice to see them all--even if it was a short visit.
Mam-ma, Mom/KayKay and Christian. His lollipop lit up and was really neat looking
Baylor has a new favorite toy...her princess purse. KayKay got it in Disney world and just now gave it to her. It has a phone, change purse, "money", keys, "lipstick" and of course you see the cool sunglasses! She would hardly put it down and looked so darn cute:)
Baylor decided to sit at KayKay's dressing table and put on some make-up
Here Christian is using the "lipstick" from Baylor's new purse. They thought this was funny.

Our two comedians
Christian has started to enjoy telling knock knock jokes. He has almost gotten good enough to where they make some sense, but they tend to run together sometimes. Here is a sample. (Notice our new little comedian Baylor trying to get in on the act.)

Who knew...
that Sonic could have some really cool toys!! We got these puzzles over the past couple weeks and 'Christian' (really me with him watching) has had lots of fun putting them together. They are 3D and really tough plastic so they stand up to a little play. Here Christian displays his Woolly Mammoth, Sea turtle and King Cobra snake. Some cool fun on these hot days.
that a Flinstone vitamin could make such a mess!!! Leave it to my daughter to continuously take it in and out of her mouth to play before actually chewing it. As you can see she didn't seem to mind.
and lastly who knew that MY KIDS would ever ask for second helpings of dinner?!?!? It is normally a struggle to get through the first. All hail the power of Cheeseburger Macaroni and green beans.

Our son...the dancer
At Otter Creek we have a monthly service called Celebration. It is one Sunday night a month when the whole church gets together to celebrate being a family with God. This past one was our 'Back to School' blessing. We sang songs and prayed over the children as they were returning to school...our 1st graders also get a special treat from the church--a new bible to practice their reading skills with:) Anyway...some of the children's worship leaders got up on stage and invited all the kids to come down and show the adults what they do in children's worship. Well the music started and everyone else was singing along/doing hand motions that go along with the words--OUR SON started dancing to his very own beat on the side of the stage removed from everyone else. Anyone that was there can attest to the fact that it looked very much like break dancing!!! Everyone in the audience was laughing and I was crying from laughing so hard. Those around us kept looking at Jeff and I asking if we had taught him those moves. The funniest part about it is that Christian is normally quite reserved and doesn't hardly make himself known in children's worship. (Jeff and I help in there once a month and that is what we have observed.) A couple other kids started to follow suit so the audience did get quite the show:) Two weeks later and people are still commenting on Christian's great moves.
I, of course, did not have my camera--I'm not sure still pictures would have even done it justice. Who thinks to bring a video camera along with them to church?!?!

Surprise
A couple of weeks ago Jeff told me not to make any plans for Saturday the 25th. I said okay and left it at that. Later he told me we had an 'appointment' at 5:45 and would have to drop the kids off at my parents by 5pm. Just before I got in the shower Saturday afternoon he finally told me where we were going. It was kinda a combination of treat for me and treat for him. We had dinner reservations at The Melting Pot (one of my very FAVORITE places) and then we were going to the Alison Krause (one of his favorites) concert at 8pm. I like bluegrass so don't think I didn't enjoy myself:)
We got all dressed up for our KID FREE night, had an amazing dinner and fun at the concert. Below you see a picture of our friends the Shipps. Jeff didn't even know they were going to the concert (to celebrate their anniversary), but our seat were semi close and we were able to see them before the show.
Our seats were on the floor, front and center. The music was great and it was nice to have some time with my hubby. The kids had a great time with KayKay and Tex. I think KayKay would say the good time ended when Baylor decided to wake up at 5:30 this morning!! Mom had the monitor in her room since we knew we'd be pretty late getting in. I'm really hoping she ended up getting a nap this afternoon:) Dad is off to Seattle to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of UPS. Even though he is retired he wanted to be apart of the celebration and is meeting some of his old work friends out there.

She makes you smile
Baylor can't help but bring a smile to your face...you never know what she's going to do next. She started putting these stickers on herself and Christian and I joined in the fun:)
Here she is showing off her cool ride and Mim's sunglasses. All the celebrities are wearing the BIG glasses and Baylor wants to be just as fashionable. She already has a cute little dog, but I told my mom she needs a dog purse to be really cool.
I think we are beginning the whole dress up thing. She wants to put anything (like this smock) on over her clothes. She also has a cute tutu outfit that I don't have a picture of yet...we'll remedy that don't you worry:)
Her favorite thing to do is talk on the phone--I kid you not!!! I have to hide the phone otherwise she is pushing buttons and pretending to talk. You need video to truly appreciate it, but she says: "ello" and "umm" (like she's trying to think of what else to say). She babbles a lot and you can pick up words here and there. In this picture she is actually talking to Jeff and telling him that she is watching "ndrellalla" (that is her way of saying Cinderella). Both my kids have become addicted to this lately and I'm beginning to memorize it!!!
Have a great Wednesday and if you are in the Nashville area please come to the Otter Creek consignment sale!!! It is at our church (409 Franklin Rd) and we will have TONS of stuff!! This is our third sale and it gets bigger everytime. We are raising money for a new playground for the chuch/school. So come on down and gets some deals:)
The sale is all day Friday starting at 8am and Saturday is half price day
