Just to let everyone know...Baylor did not have a bad case of Pink Eye. The drops nippes it in the bud!

Today our sweet friend Shannon Ott and her "little" boy Josh were at church. I put little in quotations b/c at 7 weeks Baylor has just reached the size he was when he was born. Anyone who knows Shannon can find the irony in this...She's little and had such a BIG baby. I consider myself of average size and had such a small one...I find that funny. They both looked GREAT (missed you John) and it was so nice to see their sweet faces. We miss them alot. I told Baylor she may have met a future boyfriend today, but that it also would be way weird if it did happen! Who knows, they could choose the same colloege or something:)

First sickness

Much to my sisters dismay, Baylor has Pink Eye! Mim has had it twice in the past month--we escaped it the first time around but now we weren't so lucky. Poor Mim feels so bad--she was afraid we would be mad at her. We told her we still love her and will only beat her up once over it (HaHa). We got eye drops in a few hours after the first signs, so it will hopefully be shortlived. At least this gives us a reason for her irritability the past couple days. Mommy has had a difficult couple days getting used to doing things for two while we go out, changing poopy diapers one after another (both are still in diapers) and remembering infants can't tell time!! She doesn't care if I think we have 30 or 45 more minutes to get something done before a feeding...She just wants to eat, be held and wants Mommy to forget about trying to whatever it was I wanted to get done.

Please pray for us as we deal w/ sick eyes and lack of sleep. Daddy and Mommy get a little irritable ourselves when we are sleepy.

We woke up to a white snowscape this morning. Baylor could have cared less, but Christian was excited. Daddy decided to stay home from work (Yes, I know it is Saturday-but you know busy season demands) and that made us all excited!! Christian and Jeff played in the snow, but couldn't get it to stick together for a snowman. As you can see they had tons of fun anyway. Christian liked to lick the snow off his gloves--we told him it was okay as long as the snow wasn't yellow. He also had his first hot chocolate when they came inside...it was so yummy.

Hope you took time to remember how snow used to make you feel...all excited and happy. As adults we tend to look at it as an inconvience, but kids see nothing but joy. Remember to see the joy--you'll be a happier person for it.

Sorry we are bad

Sorry we are so bad at posting pics. Jeff is taking care of that today. We have been taking plenty just not getting them on the site. Anyway... Yesterday was V day and it takes on a whole new meaning with kids. It was so sweet to watch Christian and his friends at his little party. They were "mailing" valentines to each other in little boxes their teacher made and had some yummy looking cookies. Christian was the neatest little eater--everyone else had icing everywhere. I think he was just savoring every bite. I came home to find the most beautiful Iris and Tulips waiting on the doorstep--my hubby is so sweet. And he took me to see BON JOVI last night with his firms box seats...Way cool. I must say that Jon still looks good 20 yrs later, but some of the women there should have reconsidered their outfits. A 30+ crowd with some of them trying to wear what they might have worn to their first concert was not a pretty sight. Nana and Papa had their first experience of babysitting 2 kids and they all seemed to have survived. Poor Papa had an early morning at work so I'm sure he is sleeping this afternoon.

Baylor seems to be doing better with her new formula and letting us sleep @ 5 hrs straight a night. Nice, but we have a ways to go. She looked beautiful in her V-day outfit(as you can see). Mim bought the onesie and Daddy got her the cute little heart slippers. She had her first trip to the park today. It is a beautiful, but windy day outside. We met Anna Kate, Jackson, Caitlyn, Caroline and their mommies at Granny White Park. It is amazing how much the kids will do on their own now. We all had fun and now it is time for a nap (hopefully).

Celebrating Valentine's Day

Not to steal all of Elizabeth's comments, but I have good and bad thoughts associated with Valentine's Day. First, the bad...I hate that the retail and marketing giants have one more holiday to barrage us with another reason to buy stuff, whether we want to or not (and yes, it is all stuff). But, I do like the fact that even in a busy time as I have every Valentine's Day, it is somewhat accepted by my co-workers that every one takes a break to do something with his or her valentine. So, I look at it as another opportunity that I get to show Christy how much I love her and appreciate all she does. Hopefully, that doesn't get lost on the fact that I try to do that throughout all the other 364 days a year!

Anyway, I promised some pictures, and as I looked over these I'm constantly amazed at how cute our kids are! Anybody disagree? : )

And to end this post, I'll give tribute to the only man other than me that Christy gushed over on Valentine's Day. We were fortunate enough to get tickets to the firm's suite to watch the Bon Jovi concert. It must be a good life to be Jon Bon Jovi, to have so many people love him, be in his mid- to late-40's, and still have good hair and a flock of women wanting to just touch the hem of his black leather pants. Happy Valentine's Day, Jon! Richie, hopefully you didn't have too bad of a V-Day without Heather (what were you thinking?).

We take it back

Ok, to balance everything out, I wanted to make sure we comment on the good nights that come our way.

As Christy has expressed before, it seems to be feast or famine when it comes to sleep at our house. Baylor is getting a little more used to her new formula, so she is not the gas machine she was prior to the change. I don't think I could sleep with what she had going on in her belly either! Let's all pray that she doesn't inherit all of her mother's stomach problems. Anyway, after a little bit of effort to get her to sleep, she slept about 6 1/2 hours last night, and Christian slept in to 7:30. Quite an amazing treat for mom and dad!

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately. I promise to update this week once I can get the camera hooked up to the computer.

Lack of Sleep

Here we are one day past her due date and one day before she is 4 weeks old. I can hardly believe all that has happened. Baylor has brought both joy and some hardships to our lives. You forget how sleep deprived you can become and she either sleeps really WELL or really BAD. She didn't settle down til well after 1am last night and was up again at 4:15. Big brother got in on the action around 1:30 and Mommy got all of @ 5 hours total sleep. It is important to note the word TOTAL because none of it was all together. I'm not sure how much sleep Jeff would say he got, but he has the advantage of falling right back to sleep where as it takes me awhile. The longer I lay there the more frustrated I get! That's why I'm doing this instead of taking a nap...I get tired of just laying there. We are also trying out a new formula to see if it agrees with Baylor's little tummy. She can be so gassy and we are trying to alleviate her pain. Dr. Merri is so sweet and plans on working with us until we get this fiqured out. Please pray that it works.

But even in the hardships there is joy. My grandmother came to meet her new Great-granddaughter for the first time this weekend and she was so sweet to watch. Of course she thought she was beautiful and she brought Baylor her first little doll. Baylor will realize it is there eventually. After such a hard night, Mommy had some much needed girl time with all my favorite friends (minus Hailey--we missed you) at the Puffy Muffin. Those not from Nashville don't know what a treat that place is, but trust me--great atmosphere, great food and great friends = one great time. As I write this Jeff is getting some guy time at a Vandy game and KayKay and Tex are doing stuff for their new house. Everyone will be back here later and we'll all oooh and aaah over my sweet children some more.
