The evening of the fourth was spent at Lipscomb University with tons of friends, but minus Baylor. She woke up that morning with a fever and spent the evening with KayKay. We still had fun...there were several jumpy things for the kids to play on and yummy food to eat. Christian and Lila are the best of friends
The Thomas girls, Elijah, Darcy and Christian
You can see Kevin and Kiki in the background...they have started coming to our LG and we are really enjoying getting to know them better. We'll find out soon just who we'll be welcoming in December:)
I thought this was a fun picture with the flag and fireworks

I caught this sweet picture last week. Tex is sharing his prayer journal with Baylor and I love how her little hands are clasped together while she listens. I have a similar picture of Christian around the same age...but couldn't find it on the computer. This is one of my Dad's newest horses...My Little Buckaroo. He named him after Christian:)
We've been busy doing a little of this and that this week. Christian has been in the Brentwood Baptist VBS program and has really enjoyed it. Baylor had MDO on Tuesday/Thursday and her first swim lesson on Wednesday morning. She was just getting comfortable with Ms. Jamie when it started to thunder and they had to get out of the pool!! Maybe next time?!?!?

Christian has had a big week of 'special time with special people'. Monday Nana and Papa took him to the new Planetarium that just opened at our Science Center. They had loads of fun and I'm supposed to be getting some pics soon. He also had an afternoon just him and Mommy on Thursday. We went to lunch together after VBS (McD's of course and he was able to get a new transformer in his Happy Meal), then we went bowling, to have ice cream AND to a movie. Bowling was fun until he dropped the ball on his foot:( It only hurt for a few minutes and he's fine now. Then he begged and begged to go see Wall-E...so being the sucker I am we called KayKay & Tex (who had Baylor) to make sure it was okay. We were two of five people in the whole theater which meant I didn't feel like I had to shush him every time he asked a question. The movie is cut, but none too subtle...you get the point really fast--humans are very wasteful lazy people...but in the end there is still hope for us. Christian may not have gotten the social lesson, but still liked the movie. I just enjoyed my time with my boy. He'll be off at Kindergarten in the fall and I won't get to spend half as much time with him. We'll have to make these 'dates' a more common occurrence.

4th of July at The Club

Mom and Dad have been nice enough the last two years to treat us to fireworks at the club the day before the 4th. They serve a Pasta Buffet and have yummy ice cream treats to eat. Then you just hang around waiting for it to get dark. I saw several people I knew and caught up with them...I told Dad I felt like I was him b/c he usually finds someone he knows no matter where we go.
Nana made this super cute outfit for Baylor!! She does confess to having to redo a few steps along the way, but the outcome was definitely worth it. Baylor loved her pockets:)
Tex and KayKay looking all festive

waiting around for the fireworks to begin

Watching the Fireworks was lots of fun with Christian this year. I wish we had videoed his running commentary...'Oh wow' and 'that was awesome' 'Look Mommy, that was big'

Christian decided he would pretend to have Transformer eyes
Baylor DID NOT enjoy the Fireworks one bit...she cowered in KayKay's lap and covered her eyes and ears the whole time. At one point mom wondered if she had gone to sleep b/c she wasn't moving a muscle, but I think she was just too scared to move

We went to the wedding of one of my best friends from my college days last Saturday. It was short and sweet just like the Bride & Groom (J/K Renae) It really was beautiful and I'm so happy for them.

I tried to get a couple cute pics of the kids all dressed up, but Baylor wasn't really in the mood. She LOVED her dress...she said she looked like 'ellalla (which is Cinderella in Baylor speak)

I really like this close up of Christian

pool time

Last Friday Jeff and my dad played in the Wayne Reed Golf Tournament...Jeff's team won!!! After the golf they met my mom, kids and I over at the pool. We had fun just hanging out:)

Zoo time with the Shipps

Last week was a Member Morning so we could get in early...we met our good friends for some fun time before it got too hot:) Christian used to not be able to climb the ropes very well, but now he's just as good as that spider guy on his hat:)
One of the best parts of getting there early is the free Carousel rides
We watched this big guy have lunch
and all the kids were in on grooming this mountain goat
