Our New Home

We have waited a long time for this baby to be finished!! We have officially lived in it for two weeks now and are slowly getting things where we want them. Most of the first week here was spent getting more stuff from KayKay's house and dealing with Christian having the flu. Below you'll see a close-up of our entry way...one of the big selling points of this plan.

My beautiful little alcove...I have been waiting for this part a long time. See, their bags and coats have just the right spot to go:)

The hallway leading to the laundry room, alcove and garage
These letters are over the master bath door--they used to be silver until Jeff found this cool brown hammered spray paint

Our bathroom

If you look on the counter you'll see our initials (they were silver too)

Playroom before

Playroom after

office is still a major work in progress

Living room...still in progress
Kitchen...boxes are gone, but we are still getting there

I bought these yesterday to display in my china cabinent

He's so happy to have his bunk beds back
I love how his space wall turned out

Baylor's room before

Her reading chair

still a bit of (you guessed it) a work in progress
There are other rooms that you are not allowed to see yet. Our bedroom needs some major help, but I wanted to get the kids rooms done first. I just got our bathroom together yesterday. I still need curtains for Baylor's room and we are making cornice boards for the kitchen and dining room. We have NO CLUE what to do with the living room and that is one of the first places you see, Oh well. Hope you enjoyed the mini tour

new floors

Ever since we have moved into this house we have needed to replace the back door and the hardwoods. The previous owners had rottweilers that chewed through the door frame and every time it rained water got in, soaked the floor in front of the door and caused water damage. We finally got around to doing all this last week. Here is what it looked like when they took the old floors out. Here is the hole that was in the sub flooring that they had to repair before putting the new floor down
This is the 'in process' photo of them ripping up the old floor. The carpet you see in the dining room is no longer there either. We loved the look, but they told us it would be way too expensive to try and leave it.
And here is a not so glamorous after picture--but what can you really do with floors:)

I'm very happy with the finished product and the guys that installed it were really nice...they even came back on Saturday to finish some of it out.

THUD

This weekend Jeff and Christian planted flowers in the front yard. We have wanted to make a little bed around the mailbox ever since we moved in and finally got around to it. They also planted some petunias around our tree. It all looks so pretty. Christian seemed to enjoy the time with daddy and even more fun was playing in the sprinkler afterwards:)
The last picture shows the reasoning behind the title of this post. That is the sound we heard out of Baylor's room this morning and then silence. I have never seen Jeff shoot out of bed so quickly!! He opened her door just about the time she started crying and she was laying face down on the floor. We're not sure if she just leaned over enough to topple or lost her balance while actually crawling out...point being she fell out of her crib:( It scared us all to death!! Christian was even hovering over her with a very concerned look on his face. Being the great big brother he is he went to get her milk to make her feel better (It's what always works for him). She calmed down pretty quickly and didn't seem any worse for ware as they say. Hence the moving down of the mattress before bedtime tonight. She is such our little dare devil. Christian didn't even attempt to get out until he was almost two and even then he never made it. We fiqured he was old enough to begin the big boy bed. I was just discussing this with my mom last week--telling her I was hoping to make it til at least Oct/Nov before we had to do anything with Baylor. I guess this is what I get for even bringing it up!
