Thanksgiving Day 2008

We went to my Aunt and Uncles in E-town for lunch. It is about a two hour drive so we went there and back in one day. It's always nice to get together with family you don't see very often. We all tried to squeeze on the front steps for a group picture. Football was watched...

We had a Life Group Thanksgiving meal the week before at the Houston's house. Heidi made everything look so pretty and made the kids the cutest turkey utensil holders:) Everyone brought something to the meal and it was ALL fabulous. We had so much fun and can't wait to do it next year...Jeff and Christian had to miss out since C was so sick:(

This has been an amazing year and I can't wait to see where this next one takes our group. We know it will involve increasing our # by two more girls when Gracie and baby Houston make their way into the world.

I am so thankful for my family. They all mean so much to me and I couldn't imagine my life without them. My sweet husband does so much for me and the kids-mostly working really hard everyday. He sacrifices a lot to make a good life for our little family. My sweet Christian has been learning so much lately and he makes his momma proud. Baylor is a crazy little thing...she is funny and makes us laugh all the time.

Mim and Travis have just made it into town today to spend a little time. They brought FOXY, their cat & Baylor loves to play with her. We will all head to E-Town tomorrow to celebrate with Mam-ma, Pap-pa and my uncle's family.


I'm also thankful for healthy children. Christian has been really sick over the past few days...turns out he has pneumonia. It was a little scary b/c he was fine on Sunday at 5:30am and 2 hours later he had a 103' fever and was crying b/c he felt so awful. He barely moved all day and his fever kept going up and down. By Monday morning, he wasn't any better and really seemed worse. After deciding to take him to the doctor we spent the rest of the day either in an office or on our way to one. We were sent to get X-rays after going to the pediatrician...we waited an hour & a half before we could leave and go BACK to the pediatrician. They said his poor lungs were full and definitely had Pneumonia!! No wonder he felt so awful. We then waited at the office for 15-20 min before they decided to give him two antibiotic shots (one in each little booty cheek). He cried and cried and I felt so sorry for him, but am so thankful they did it. After a good night's rest he was a different child:) He even made an appearance at school for his Thanksgiving program, then it was back to the doctor for a recheck after the shot. They were so pleased to see how much better he looked. Today he feels even better and I am just grateful he was able to get the right medication to make him that way.

I was able to watch Christian's class during some of their everyday activities a few weeks ago. Pledge of Allegiance is first (C can now say it almost word for word). Every day they go though their calendar to see what day it is today, what was yesterday and what is tomorrow. Then they check out the weather and put the right words up on their board. They are also counting the # of days they have been in school: this day was 53. When they reach 100 they'll do something special.


Mrs. Melissa is very creative and adds all sorts of subjects into this time. She even speaks Spanish to them on occasion. My favorite part was prayer time. I snapped the above picture and love it:) Hearing 5 year old prayers is a sweet thing.

Parade of Bible Characters

A tradition at OC is to have the kids dress up as a bible character or theme and have three clues for the audience to guess what they are. Our life group kids all wore boxes with some of the 'building blocks' of faith. Our preacher did a sermon on these a few months ago so that made it kinda funny. We were all so impressed that they kept their boxes on...poor Stuart could barely keeps his head above his and he was Circumcision (insert crude joke here)

It's always a struggle to be creative so props to Laura for pulling this one off:)

C's Party

I was a party mom for Christian's party...this year I WAS NOT IN CHARGE so it was a lot easier (unfortunately I AM IN CHARGE of B's Christmas party, but that's another story) The kids always parade around the school in their costumes and 'trick-r-treat' at Ms. Pat's door. Each child got to make their own 'dirt cup' full of pumpkins and worms...Christian thought it was really yummy
